Meteor Comp Coming Together

Getting the Big Bang and screaming meteors comp'd in. Can't wait to get the space texture and stars in the background.

Raw Footage Comp!

Here's all the raw footage (minus the end part), all comp'd together. Put in a temp sky for effect. I've only really properly keyed out the green on a couple scenes, too.

One major thing to note. It's going to take some testing to see whether or not there's time for the vikings. It seems that everything kind of expanded to fit perfectly without room for them. We shall see.

More Footage

Here's some more raw footage of scenes I've filmed. Next up is the cavemen/aliens/pyramids, which I plan to film monday night.

Cities (decided I'm going to comp in the explosions, because I'm not sure how the live action stuff will layer in):

Apes (going to start the continuing piece with a line of shrubs that can help comp it into one long take) :

And these probably won't be the colours of the skies, either.

Rough Comp

Hey guys, here's the first two scenes with a rough green screen keying job done in premiere to preview what the footage can eventually look like. Obviously there's no fancy meteors or anything.

Everything's taking a bit longer than expected. It took me all yesterday and today to prep and shooting the dinos. So it looks like I'm moving at a scene per every two days rate. Which means I'm not sure if I'll get all 5 scenes in this week. Probably going to spill a lot into the next few weeks, shooting stuff here and there. It'll get done though.

Pilgrims, Cleaned

video
Not quite sure how the fallen Indians are going to work out, to be honest - I tried to make their postures fit the curve without dipping too much below the surface line; I might have to tweak their final pose a little in the end.

Green Screen Rotation Test!

'kalle'

Animated a quick test of some sphere rotation with fabric. Some things I noticed:

1. Green screen works amazingly. Even stray threads are still visible on the fabric.

2. I wasn't really anticipating having to wrap the fabric around the sphere, meaning I had to pleat the fabric down the sides. I think this actually adds a lot to the spinning effect and variation on the circle shape. Neat.

3. There's some mild flickering going on, I'm not quite sure why this is happening. Could be the lights, maybe the camera. Might have to do some quick research but I'm not sure if there's much we can do.

4. Biggest issue is when I added the alien cutout, the white of the paper was burning so hot that it seemed to dim the whole scene to compensate. So I'm going to go pick up some cream ('camera white') paper tomorrow after work. The white borders will burn on camera and mess things up probably, so might as well avoid it.
